        Corona Virus Update

Company Hotline for COVID 19 is 877 342 3908

The Union and the Company met yesterday to discuss again the Corona Virus and its effect on the membership, and how the information is imparted to us to pass on to you. There has been a question of what can the company can legally provide us without violating HIPAA Law. So far, they have been able to identify the date and building where the affected employee was and the amount of represented members who have been put on protective self-quarantine. They can also let us know the date that the contagion professionals sanitized the areas in question. Due to your response to us yesterday, we brought these concerns to the Company, robust discussion ensued and will continue.

To recap; The United States Government through its agencies has deemed this company and its employees as providing an essential government function, exempting LM Space from the shelter in place orders. If you believe you can work at home, you can discuss telework options with your management.

The company has shown that they are concerned about your safety and will put you on presumptive quarantine with pay where precautionary measures are deemed necessary by LM Medical. A comprehensive interview by LM Medical is conducted with any person of interest to determine specific locations and individuals who may have had direct contact. If you haven’t been asked to stay home, then you have not been identified as at risk.

LM Space in the bay area will be supporting the Health Care industry by manufacturing hospital clothing. The Company came to us yesterday to discuss this with the committee. We will report more on this as discussions move forward. What we know so far is that two shifts may be implemented over the next month to meet the commitment. We will assist the company in this endeavor and some represented employees will be assigned to support this effort based on the skill sets required to perform the operations.

LM space will also be implementing FAQ’s and resource kits for the frontline supervisors to make sure you all hear the same message. Misinformation cannot be tolerated. The company has also procured approximately 250 gallons worth of hand sanitizer. If you don’t see hand sanitizers; request them or let us know and we’ll bring this to the attention of management.

Remember the following:

  • If you feel sick, stay home and call the hotline number above
  • Social distancing – keep at least 6 feet between you and others when possible including lunch & breaks
  • Wash your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds
  • Try not to touch your face or your eyes
  • For those who are not sick and don’t feel comfortable at work, discuss this with your manager and take time off – Unpaid or using Paid Absence Leave or Vacation, if approved

The process for those who don’t feel well is to call the Hotline and discuss your symptoms and how you feel. If you are directed to self-quarantine, a notice will be sent to your manager and your labor relations business partner.

Your input has been valuable; please continue to pass it on to your stewards, Dimas Resendez, David Johnson, Kimberlee Hamilton Alarcon, Brian Babcock and Rod Thole. Bulletins will also be posted on LL2228 website www.iamll2228.org

All these actions and more are how we are going to keep the locations safe and healthy. We will keep generating these bulletins to keep you all informed.

Fraternally,

Kevin Lee
