Union Report 4/14/2020

4/14 /2020
Corona Virus Update —
Company Hotline for COVID 19 is 877 342 3908

As of this afternoon, there have been no further reported cases of exposure or prolonged contact with any person who might be affected, and to repeat, all represented employees who have been on quarantine have returned to work.

There are some pay issues related to KNDS leave that the company and your Union are looking into. Some of our members are going to their medical provider first, taking direction from them and then calling the hotline days later, in these cases we may have to work backwards to reconcile. Call the Hotline first or as soon as possible.

We were also getting more specifics on the award of up to $500.00 stipend. The company stated that approximately 99% of the represented employees will get the full amount; other represented members who may have teleworked may get a prorated portion or may not be eligible since they have not been required to work on-site. Labor Relations will review each case that requires attention and your Union will review as well. We are also reviewing the Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act which will cover the stipend.

We are still waiting for the LM legal department to respond to the unions request to provide you with the locations of specific buildings where exposure is discovered, within reason and discretion. We will keep checking.

The hand sanitizers and masks arrived late last week. Check with your management about the masks, especially if the 6ft distance cannot be maintained. In the meantime, it is advisable to use a personal cloth mask.

If you are a steward, it is encouraged to also maintain this 6ft rule when conducting Union business. The use of online Skype meetings is strongly encouraged.

Remember the following:

  • If you feel sick, stay home and call the hotline number above
  • Social distancing – keep at least 6 feet between you and others when possible including lunch & breaks
  • Wash your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds
  • Try not to touch your face or your eyes

For those who are not sick and don’t feel comfortable at work, discuss this with your manager and take time off – using Unpaid, Paid Absence Leave or Vacation, if approved

The process for those who don’t feel well is to call the Hotline and discuss how you feel. If you are directed to self-quarantine, a notice will be sent to your manager and your labor relations business partner.

Your input has been valuable; please continue to pass it on to your stewards, Dimas Resendez, David Johnson, Kimberlee Hamilton Alarcon, Brian Babcock and Rod Thole. Bulletins will also be posted on LL2228 website www.iamll2228.org

Your Union and the Company are meeting daily, we started working on this issue early in March and are now starting to see results through action and education. We will all get through this together and be a stronger Union because of this.

RIP to some of our members in Palmdale and Ft. Worth who have passed on due to this illness and its complications. Keep their families in your prayers.

Fraternally,

Kevin Lee
