.....NEXT MEETING IS SEPTEMBER 1ST,  2010 @ 4:00PM..... HAVE A NICE SUMMER....

The Subcontractor Eyewitness form has been developed to help with the enforcement of the maintenance subcontracting           language.   All members are encouraged to fill out this form and fax, email or deliver to the Union Hall. this simple tool may help bring back some of our brothers currently on layoff whose jobs might be farmed out.

WE ARE ORGANIZING!!!!

THIS MESSAGE IS FOR "AT WILL" EMPLOYEES

Including those NON Management workers in Sunnyvale

Did you know that employees covered by a Union Contract receive on average approximately 40% more in wages & benefits then their "AT WILL"  colleagues performing comparable work?

Did you also know that "AT WILL" employees can be let go at anytime by their employers without recourse? And that employees covered by a Union Contract are protected from this, the company MUST have just cause in order to terminate an employee.

If you have questions and are interested or if you or anyone you know is interested in joining a union, please click the link beneath Uncle Sam in the left hand column or call the union hall @ 408-739-1434 for further details.

WARN NOTICE SENT TO THE LODGE FROM THE COMPANY

10 members of this lodge from the facilities group were targeted for layoff under the provisions of the WARN act received by the local lodge on 5/27/10. The employees, if not placed or retrained for another classification within 60 days of receipt of the notice, will be subject to layoff.

As concerned members, we do not like the idea of our brothers and sisters being laid off while out side contractors, it would appear, are doing their work. it is up to us to document what we see and turn this information over to the Union Hall. This evidence can then be used against the company thru the grievance process... who knows who might be next if we don't stick together... we know that the company has plenty of work for employees trained in those affected classifications.enough for out side contractors it seems.

And to those brothers & sisters in those affected groups.. my opinion is that you file grievances when you feel that it is appropriate to do so. we will be here to assist.

LL2228 Brick has been set in the Worker's Memorial at W3

Thanks to Sister Melissa Fryman Campbell, 2559 LL President for getting this picture on my request thru FaceBook. And thanks again Brothers & Sisters for helping with the cost of the memorial

ATTENTION SALARY FOLKS:

If you like our work so much .. see the message above about organizing ... then we might help you keep your job so you can leave ours alone!!!!!

KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF OUR  WORK !!!
The Union Hall has received more reports that salary employees are blatantly doing touch labor hourly work and other hourly functions.  If you like the work so much, ask for a transfer back to hourly, join the Union and start paying dues again.

TO MAKE IT EASIER TO DISTINGUISH  HOURLY REPRESENTED FROM SALARY EMPLOYEES WISHING TO PERFORM BARGAINING UNIT WORK IN DEFIANCE OF THE CONTRACT, WE HAVE DEVELOPED THE "UNION MEMBER" BADGE SEEN IN THE RIGHT COLUMN. IT IS STRICTLY VOLUNTARY. ANYONE SEEN PERFORMING BARGAINING UNIT WORK NOT WEARING THE BADGE MIGHT BE SALARY AND IN NEED OF A GRIEVANCE TO CEASE AND DESIST... ASK YOUR SHOP STEWARD FOR DETAILS
